The Aim of The Scout Association is to encourage the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. This is achieved by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult Leadership. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.
The age range for cubs is 8 to approximately 11 years.
We meet at Leigh on Sea, and have cubs from Leigh, Chalkwell, Westcliff and Southend. Regular weekly meetings, during term time, are Tuesdays from 5.45pm to 7.30pm. You will see a calendar of events on our website. The Pack Meeting programme is comprised of playing games and training in small groups. There are also special events such as Outings, Special Pack Meetings, Sporting Activities, and Camps.
If you would like to join then please phone Akela on 01702-476365, to arrange your first visit. This will ensure that there will be a meeting at the hall, as we sometimes go out, and we can give you details of the information that you will need to bring along. An adult is welcome to stay with a new cub for the first meeting (although we often find that new cubs are happy to wave goodbye to you after 5 minutes)
